I think I may have stripped the threads on the female port for my engine coolant sensor for my 2007 jk with the 3.8l engine. At this point I think I may need to plug the existing port and relocate the sensor to the radiator hose. It’s either that, or tap the hole with a helicoil repair. Anyone have experience repairing this issue, and/or recs on which direction to go? I’m afraid it may be beyond the point of chasing the original threads.

 

 

@Jay2013jk , thanks! Yeah, I’m thinking that’s the route I’m going to have to go. I haven’t been able to find the size of the sensor anywhere online. I’m guessing at this point measuring the sensor diameter with a caliper is likely the best way to ensure I get the right size kit. Am I thinking correctly about that?

 

That would give good data, I would most likely go to a good local hardware store to the nuts and bolts bins and find the nut that fits the sensor.. Then buy the correct helicoil.
