Default coolant smell

Anyone smell coolant in your rig if you let it sit and warm up in the morning? I have an 08 with 8K on it and it just started doing this.

Unhappy anti-freeze smell

I smelled it 3 times during my recent 950 mile trip. I have 8300 miles on my 2007 now. Will monitor coolant bottle very closely for awhile .

This probably isn't your problem, but its worth mentioning.

Last week I had the jeep in for the recall and an oil change, and my wife mentioned she smelled antifreeze when i brought it home. i thought she was nuts and just blew it off. The next day I drove it and parked it in the garage and when i walked in i really smelled it.

Checked under the hood and noticed the radiator cap was loose. Antifreeze spewed all over.

So, check your cap and of course if the recovery is too full it will spill a little.

I have an 08 X and at around 30K miles I smelled coolant, took it to the dealer and they replaced my manifold gasket under warranty. That solved my problem. Hope that helps.

+ 1 on the smell.
Mentioned it to dealer and they did not find anything.
It must be small because I never see the fluid level go down?
When I can't find the smell i usually start to think of a heater hose but have not explored yet.

These could be typos, but you guys really should get out and enjoy your JKs more!!

Coolant smell could be coming from all sorts of fun expensive things. I'd check the weep hole on the water pump, look for milky frothy oil at your next oil change, and I'd definitely look over the intake manifold. Almost always you will never see a leak at the intake manifold, over time the gaskets becomes worn on the inside.
