Default cooling fan??

ok so i have a 2013 with the variable cooling fan and i'm wondering what can be done to improve on it

i was looking at the Taurus 2 speed fan and got to wondering if one of those was used with it wired up on low speed just like the stock fan is and have the high speed wired up separately for when its really hot.

any thoughts?

Take a 4" hole saw and go to town with it on the hood

i may need to go pull one out of a junk yard cuz the one i have is back home in washington

i just wanna see if maybe the motor and fan or just motor will swap into the jeep

A lot of folks in our jeep club use the Taurus fan, seems like a lot of them have trouble with running the high side of it. Seems to draw a lot of amps and burns up relays.
I have the 3.8 but I plan on replacing the stock fan with a spal waterproof fan.

I run hood vents and actually have a 6.5 inch spal fan blowing out one of the vents. Really pulls a lot heat out of the engine bay.
Also helps keep the intake temperature down alittle.

I've added a second puller fan in front of the rad. Somewhere I added the info on the forum. I'm using an adjustable thermostat that goes on when under hood temps get to 100 ish deg. Also a relay to stay away from interfering with other electrics. I did this to help with tranny temps.

I had an aftermarket fan on a 87 Toyota PU and the fan blades exploded in a river crossing, so I would wonder if the Taurus fan would hold up in a water crossing?

So is your Jeep overheating?

You could also look at an HHR, (Chevy) fan. I put one on my old Dakota and it did a great job. Not expensive either.

I was wondering the same. My 2013 has never been anywhere near overheating or unacceptable performance from the stock fan.

Doesn't overheat just climbs up there under load, considerably more than my TJ ever did even with an electric fan, which made me wonder if it could be improved on, maybe just needs to come on earlier
