Default Correct Me If I'm Wrong: Ball Joints

Okay so Lately I have been hearing this sqeal coming from my tires, almost sounds like a squeaky brake but it is constant while I am rolling. It does seem to quiet down a little when i veerryy lightly ride the brakes but as soon as i let myfoot up it starts again. I do have wheel spacers so I would not be surprised if the are going out. I put the spacers on at around 8,000 miles and am currently at 20,500.

If this isnt it please feel free to chime in with any advice. I am off to class but will check back on this around 11:40.

Thanks in advance guys, please help me quiet my baby down

If it comes and goes by using the brake pedal then its gotta be the fitch fuel catalyst. No just kiddin' i'd start with the brakes. Why do you feel its ball joints

The brakes sound like a good starting point. Also why do you suspect the spacers?

Did you re-torque the Spiders after installing them? Are the wheels wobbling?

Sounds like the brake pad sensor is touching the rotors indicating it's time to change the pads. If it's a very high frequency squeal, that would be my guess.

Thanks guys, the only reason I suspected th ball joints was because I was warned that the strain of spacers could wear them prematurely.

Th spacers were torqued correctly so it probably is the brakes, there's no wobble.

And yes Red, it is a high pitch squeal

I'm no expert but (pardon the pun) I've never heard of a ball joint causing a constant squeal.

Likely culprit is brake pads. Especially given your mileage. Simple enough to check.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but if the ball joints were going bad, what would you experience? The reason I ask is because I have been noticing a vibration in my steering wheel for the past couple months, and it seems to be getting worse lately. Just had a balance and alignment done, and it didn't help the problem at all. Could it be that the ball joint is going bad simply due to spacers? I put the wheel spacers on with about 500 miles in the jeep, and it now has over 18k. If I have to replace the ball joints, how much should it cost, and is there an aftermarket option?

Any input is welcome. Thanks

saw some ball joints that can be serviced without removing them(after the first ones are installed.) as to a price labour rates change to much. take the spacers out and go to the stealership
