Default Crack between dash and windshield

I've got one of those daystar dash organizers that always fills up on a trip, or outing. Yesterday had a $200 monocular mini-scope and a highlighter, bounce out of the tray and into the black hole, on passenger side of center.
My attack plan, when I get home, Tuesday, is to pull the glovebox and see if I can get to it, and if that doesn't work, I'll go to "plan -B".
Anyone ever had something stuck in a crack (the windshield dash crack) and couldn't get it out? .....failure is not an option. Need some help pleeeese!!!!!!

That's why I got the tray.
...apparently, that's no guarantee that it won't happen again.
Folding down the windshield to fish out french fries was no fun.

I ripped apart the entire dash to find a stupid clip that had come loose, thought I was going to go nuts hearing it clink against other things in there whenever I drove it. Took forever to get out, good luck my friend!

Objects that fall into that black hole in the JKs dash dissappear from this universe forever and bounce around from one alternative dimension to another for all eternity, just like that guy in that old '80s TV series "Quantum Leap".

The fix to prevent this is to get some black foam pipe insulation from Home Depot / Lowes. Stuff into into the crack between the dash and the windshield. No more problems with the black hole eating things!

I guess this is a better idea than mine. Put a waterhose back there and turn it on. See what floats.

The way I have the foam set in there, there is a little shelf for things to sit on but they won't fall any further.

As far getting things back out, do a write-up, we need one
Bump for the write-up. Great point Karl.

Got it out by taking out the glovebox, it was hung between the firewall and the defrost duct - I got lucky.
Plan on stuffing pipe insulation in there to fill the crack.
Thanks for all the info!!!!

Would love to see the pipe installation write-up! So far, the only thing I lost is a straw.
