Default Damaged Zipper on Soft Top

The zipper on my soft top that attaches the rear window is damaged. The damaged section is on the soft top itself not the rear window. Three or four individual pieces of zipper that mesh together have slid out of place and will not allow me to zip past that section. Is there any way to replace that strip of zipper without buying the whole soft top? Thanks.

In my experience, no. I recently had a zipper failure on the back window where the thing was misaligned when putting it back on (something I'll definitely pay closer attention to from now on). The guys at the dealership and I worked like crazy on that thing but in the end the only way to free it was cut it and buy a new rear window. That was an expensive exercise at $240.

Good luck!

No not really easy repair. On my TJ that happened and I took it to a boat guy and had it sewed in.I still folded the top down . I never take my back window out I just unzip each side and roll it up then fold down.

Unfortunately the failure is on the top section. Not the window itself. My exercise will cost more.

You can also look at a clothes taylor I took my old TJ top to a place that does alterations and they were able to replace the whole zipper with a heavy duty sewing machine

I got that and am sorry to hear it. Maybe time for a Bestop or something?

Nothing you can do if its on your soft top not the window. Now like everyone else said you can take it to a Taylor. My grandmother cut off the old zipper on my window and tried to find one to match... Well she couldn't so I bought a used one off ebay.

Can you heat it with a heat gun and use a screwdriver to bend them back in shape? Then you could use a zipper lube and try running the zipper while it is still warm. My realign it enough.

Thanks for the good ideas. If all else fails I will try and pick up a gently used top.
