Default Dana 44 End Play

Quick question.
Replaced the right hand side rear axle seal due to leak and noticed little play in it so I changed it.

All new spicer parts from 4wheel parts.
-retainer plate
-seal
-axle bearing
-retaining ring

And I noticed the race was pretty easy to get out it stayed when shaft was pulled but was removed with ease... just pushed the new axle shaft with race installed on bearing right in and tightened the resting bolts down.

But then no leak yet again but this was right after installation.

I would not have expected that. I've pulled axles but not changed the seal and bearing. I found this post:

Is it possible the retaining ring and bearing were not pressed on until the stop? My outer race slid right out also.

Yeah it’s had about the same end play before and after bearing change?

A small amount of play (in and out) is normal. I doubt you will find any numbers for it.
There is no preload adjustment.

Regarding the outer race, if that's the one to which you referred, it is not a press fit in the axle.

I'm having a little trouble interpreting this sentence from your first post:

"But then no leak yet again but this was right after installation."

There isn’t any leak worth alll the new parts installed. I just didn’t know if the in and out okay would mess the seal up prematurely.
