Default in dash digital thermometer

Ever since I pulled my battery for a radio swap my thermometer acts a little funky. When I first start the jeep, the thermometer is sporadic. It bounces between a 4 degree range with the middle number being the correct temp. Ex: 55 then 56 then 57 then 58 then back to 55. It stays on a number for no more than a second. This lasts for about 5 minutes then will suddenly stop and act normal. It will be fine for the rest of the day on startups and while running and wont happen again until the next morning when it will be funky again. Any thoughts?

Have you tried disconnecting the battery once more to see if that would fix it?

Actually no. I had to re calibrate the compass and wasn't looking forward to that . I'll try it though.
