Has anyone figured out a way to replace that grocery bag hook on the right side of the dash below the climate controls? I would like to use this for an aftermarket USB port to wire right into my Pioneer for Android Auto but the whole is huge. I measured it to be about an inch and 3/4
Yep, I've seen it done somewhere on the forum. On the upper models, I think it's a mirror adjuster knob. I'd look for the factory parts and try that route.

Had to look it up to see what the heck this was. Y, on the '12+ this turned in to a 12v outlet. Mirror adjuster knob on the corresponding left side. That's kind of weird. Seems like a silly thing and that a 12v would have made more sense from the start in '07.
***well, I just dug further and I see this on '15s even. Maybe that 12v came as part of a package. The only packages on my '13 were uconnect (in order to get the electric windows) and max tow.

Apparently this comes on the less optioned models like mine. The problem is the opening that the hook comes out of is alot larger than a 12v/lighter plug opening. I used a hole saw to cut some plastic trim rings the same size as the hook for the front and rear of the opening. Once my usb plug comes in I will measure it's diameter and cut the holes in the trim rings to mount it.
The USB port is slightly smaller than the opening for the grocery bag hook. I took my dremel tool and cut the hook off, smoothed the surface and drilled a hole in the center of what I had left to fit the USB port. Essentially I turned the grocery bag hook into a bezel for the USB port. Rather than tap into the cigarette lighter wiring I just ran a wire to the fuse box and put in an add a circuit fuse tap on a circuit that is only energized when the key is on/Jeep running.
I learned something new today folks. I always thought people putting USB chargers there was just to replace the factory 12v. This makes way more sense now.
That looks clean and exactly what I'm looking for. I may have to rethink making my own trim rings and do the same thing. Who would really use the grocery hook to attach a bag to it anyway?

I actually drilled it out from the backside. It Made it easier finding the center of the bag hook.
That wasn't too bad. I made my own plastic trim rings/washers, painted them and installed a USB/HDMI combo plug since my Pioneer has both on the back. USB works great with Android Auto and charges my phone. Waiting on the HDMI to USB C cord to arrive to try out HDMI port. I also found another USB plug I purchased awhile ago and forgot about. I drilled into the side of the dash and installed that also. That one I plugged into the USB port on the radio that works with Apple Car play. I don't have an iPhone but it will still charge and Android and both look like there factory installed which is what I wanted.
