Yep, it happened to me, too, and I have a question. Can the piece of plastic with the "egg crate" crosshatch that is immediately behind "the GAP" be removed to gain more access to the bowels of doom. Others have mentioned the small square plastic fastener covers on the ends of that piece. Does removing the fasteners allow the piece to come out? I am referring to the piece ahead of the upper dash panel ... immediately above the center radio / vent stack and behind the windshield.
