Dealer fixed syncros, now a 'tapping noise' - ? ideas
2010 JK 4 door 4wd sport - 6speed manual
had that problem with the 1st gear popping out while driving - dealer said they'd replace the 1st and 2nd gear syncros - problem is gone (popping out of gear) however, when the car idles or in reverse I hear a tapping noise - almost sounds like a valve tap on an old car, or when you don't have oil in the engine - it's a faint sounding tap tap tap... and goes away when I put the clutch to the floor - and is slightly louder when I go in reverse.
Any idea what I should look for or ask the deal to look for.

I have a similar problem after getting my syncro's replaced for JOG in 4th, except mine sounds like a clicking noise, almost like the sound of gears meshing but it never made that sound pre-fix. I have a pretty sensitive ear though, so I might just be paranoid. At any rate, I'd be interested if anyone else has any input on the OP's topic.
