I am going to do what one of the other posters suggested and climb under it and have my son load up the suspension by turning the steering wheel and look for cracks and listen for any sounds.

Maybe that will show me something. I believe most of you when you say that the steering stabilizer isn't all of the problem. I just hope whatever the problem is will be visible under a load.

The mechanics only check the stuff on a lift and so there isn't any weight on the components.

We shall see. It wouldn't be the first time they missed something obvious.

So, find anything loose that shouldn't be loose?

No, I didn't find anything loose or any broken welds. They replaced the steering stabilizer and I have setup the exact conditions for creating the death wobble and it acts just fine. (Until this stabilizer goes bad)

This is my 3rd jeep I have owned with over 250 thousand miles total driving time (in Jeeps) and this jeep is the first one I have ever experienced the death wobble on.

The best way to describe death wobble is to put your hands at the 10 and 2 oclock position in front of you as if they were on the steering wheel and shake them back and forward about 4 inches as fast as you possibly can and you will experience exactly what it feels like. I am not going to take the jeep back. I am not whining.

I expect a new vehicle to handle bumps taken on a flat paved road without problems. If my standards are too high then I guess that is tough for them. Once I get out of warranty in another few months it won't matter because I will replace all the stock crap.

I had something almost like that except the wobble was from side to side. It was the trac bar where it connecrs to the frame, probably no bearing on your problem but I thought I would throw my two cents in.
Good luck,
Steve

Long term update. After they replaced the stock steering stabilizer and put it on the right way I have driven it another 40 thousand miles without even a hint of Death Wobble. I am sitting at 75000 miles now and it is still running fine and I still drive it like I stole it.

Problem solved. Thanks to everybody for all of the advice.

Wow I can't believe a stabilizer would solve death wobble for so long. What was the correct way for to be on?
