What you are seeing is called cupping and is an indicator that there might be something wrong with your front end. Take your Jeep into a shop and have your front end checked and and aligned.

It can happen naturally with no alignment problems and not being rotated. It is due to the cornering and braking action that only happens on the front tires. The tread blocks deform and wear in a sawtooth pattern.

The KM1's are a horrible tire. They are hard to balance and maintain balance, wear like crap and are so loud you can't hear anything. I dumped mine last week and went with some Cooper AT3's and couldn't be happier. I fought those KM1's for 15k miles and that was 14,999 miles too long.

I must have been lucky. I picked up a set of 37s for a steal and love them ever since. Had a pair of 35 km2 before and honestly I can't even tell a difference with road noise.

I have a procomp xtreme mt which wore like that.... All choppy. I was wondering if it would ever come back to normal. I believe it was from lack of rotating

Remember your tires are the only thing between your Jeep and the road!! Get your rig checked out by a licensed mechanic.....can't hurt to be sure right? Most shops will check free of charge. Loose front end, weak shocks are a safety concern and will greatly affect your handling in all driving conditions....you are not the only person on the road and you don't want to be responsible for someones life over something that is so simple to check. Good luck with your tire issue and let us know what you find out

Thanks for the additional advice! Money's been pretty tight lately (plus the threat of sequestration still on the horizon) so is there anything I can check-out myself be pulling the wheels and/or crawling underneath? I know I can't check the alignment but maybe there's something else...

Just rotate the wacky tread tire to the back and keep on driving. With money being tight I wouldn't worry about alignment unless you really feel the jeep pulling on the highway or front end shimmying.

No pulling but there is a very slight wobble at 60+mph. It could totally be an off-balance tire with how poorly the tires apparently wear.

Keep your eyes out for sears alignment specials. Every now and then you can get low cost balance rotation and alignment.
