Anyone else out there hava a problem, mainly with the center fan speed dial? I went to change the speed last night and the dial was actually hot. I have only had the jeep for 2 days so this is new to me.....anyone else have this and just putting up with it?

Maybe has something to do with the hot air vents that run through or around that area?

Turn down your lights (if this problem is only at night). If not... check to see if the vents are fully seated into the duct work on your center stack.

I just thought they were hand warmers for when you had the top down on cold nights

Never noticed this with mine, but I'll check next time to see if it is warm to the touch.

Mine gets really hot too. I think it's only when the lights are on. I have my dimmer turned all the way up, so that may be the reason. In any case, I've been living w/ it for a year.

i was hoping i would find someone listing this situation on here. last sunday my wife and i were riding around kinda late, cool weather, and she goes to turn the center dial up and notices that the dash is very hot. i felt it and just about couldn't hold my finger on it, not the knob itself but the actual dash behind the knob. i got a little concerned after reading about jk's going up in flames all the while having our 1 month old daughter in the back seat. i'm hoping that isn't the source from where the flames start. any suggestions of this being normal would sure make me feel better.

Most of the heat is generated by the use of incandesent light bulbs, if LED's were used there would be very little heat felt from the HVAC controller. The heat is normal and will vary with the amount of back lighting, if the back lighting is turned all the way up there will be more heat. Try turning the dimmer down and recheck for temp.
