Default DIFF OIL top off question

How much do you guys top off your DIFF's
I have Riddler covers and I notice I get alot of oil coming out the bleeders.
especially after 4 wheeling. They are filled at the recommended level about 1 inch below the Fill hole.
I'm ok with topping them off but I wasn't sure if this is normal..
I haven't ask my dealership service dept yet.
I figure this was the best place to come...
thanks...

Good question. I have never topped off between changes, but I remember when I we the breather give extensions that there was some in the tube...not much but some nonetheless. I followed the instructions from the write up section of the forum and actually ended up with a full, unused bottle of Royal Purple...but never a problem in all my miles...52k plus.

The Back was low, I was able to put my entire pinky into the diff and then just reached the fill line. the front wasn't as low. I notice that the front when filled about 1" lower then the fill hole tends to bleed out... I haven't even look for that in the back, but I will now since it was low.

You talking about oil coming out the breather tubes? If so then you have overfilled your diffs. Where did you see that they should be filled to 1" below the fill hole? I have Riddlers and 1" below the fill hole appears to be way to much oil to me...

I'll probably talk to the service dept.... about what's the correct fill line. I think the back seemed low...

So where is yours filled to?

For my differentials, I fill the front diff with 1.375 quarts and the rear with 2.5 quarts. The Factory Service Manual calls for 1.35 quarts in the front and 2.375 quarts in the rear.
