The actual radio operations are basically the same

The main difference is the GPS.

730 gives you more options and different interface

430 is a cheaper version of the 730 with Garmin software.

The 430 is based off the newer style mygig where as the 730 is a revised version of the older RER

The 730 has the U Connect built in internally not requiring the connectivity package

The 430 requires a separate U Connect module to have the U Connect work and must be ordered with the connectivity package

I have the 430 and love it. Some love the 730 and some hate the 430 and the reversed

If I remember correctly the real reason some didn't like the 430 was when it first came out many people had problems with the U Connect which turned out to be a software issue with the module and not the radio

Others stated Jeep promised additional features with traffic link and voice command stuff.

There is significant price difference between the two. I'm trying to figure out if 730 worth the extra $$. Or may be even go with neither and swap out the stereo with an after market.. thoughts?

So here is the main difference

Accord to Jeep you can only order either or with the Sahara or Rubicon. So if you plan to get the Sport then your out of luck. Well sort of.

To get U Connect and Bluetooth in the 430N you have to order the connectivity package $385.00 extra

The 730 already has these built in. However you will not get the EVIC Center or the additional U Connect and Voice Button on the steering wheel.

You can order the connectivity package with the 730. And I think with the connectivity package you get the extra USB port inside the center console.

430 - $1035
730 - $1845

Personally I would get the connectivity package and the 430

And if you get a Sport get the Connectivity Package and replace the stock head unit with a 430 after you buy the Jeep

Oh yes one thing

The 730 has a enhanced navigation compared to the 430 Garmin based. I think the 730 allows split screen and a few other options.

But a big difference in the price between the two.

Hope this helps

I have had both the 730 and now currently the 430. The 430 equipped with garmin is more user friendly for navigation purposes, it works just like the portable garmin units, and I find it much easier and quicker to set destinations.

X3

I have used both (currently 430) and it is way easier to use in terms of navigation. The 730 sucked so bad I didn't use it. The Garmin interface is the way to go!

I have the 2012 JKU Sahara, and the 430N. My salesman said most of his customers like the 430N better.

I love the 430 that came with my COD. The Garmin software is very nice.
