Difference in instrument clusters?
Ron, check around on some of the other threads for gearing issues. When I ordered my Sahara here stateside, there were only two options: the 3:21 (stock), or the 3.73, which comes only with the trailer tow package, which I ordered. So it does seem different here-to-there . . .
Regarding the instrument cluster, Jeep and other vendors sell replacement facia kits. As someone else here noted, you can REALLY dress up an X-model with a few cheap mods.
What you CANNOT easily do is change that X / Sahara stock front axle from a Dana 30 to a Dana 44. And THAT, in my opinion, is why the Rubicon model is so popular, to whit: the hardcore off-road enthusiasts need that D44 front axle. And the Poseurs and Pavement Princesses want that "RUBICON" emblem on the hood.
I'll be happy with 33" tires and a 2.5" BB. And I'll only flex my suspension five or six times a year. So I bought the Sahara. BUTTT . . . Anyone who puts a 4" lift and 35" tires on an X or Sahara stock axle - and then does SERIOUS rock-climbing with it - is asking for trouble.

Hi Duane,
I think you are correct most of the way, i would love a 44 front but I would not want all that sway bar stuff, Overhere (Abu Dhabi, Dubai) we do Dune bashing, man there are some great dunes south of abu dhabi near the saoudi border, killer dunes :-) but having said that, I need a the axles as rigged as can be with full lockers for the sand, so overhere a Sahara with a 44 front would be the best in humble oppinion also the gear ratio of 4.21 is what I want overhere In the sand you need forward motion to stay " a float "
As soon as the JK is back from the dealer I will post some pics. I landed on my roof 3 weeks ago playing in the sand, It went very slow so no big damage (2 doors dented and the HT roof cracked)
Thanks
Ron
