Default Differential damage need advise

Ok so after my last trip I discovered my front diff got slightly nicked but no leaks. However the rear is a different story. I've read warnings about the lip on the rear diff but chose to wait till after this trip. Clearly this was a mistake cuz this is what I left with.

So I need advice. I'm only at 6000 miles can I get the dealership to cover this under warranty. Maybe pass it off as hitting a curb or something lol. Second what can I do to stop the leak for the time being ultra blue or jb weld maybe. Final question when I get the money what should I replace it with? Thanks for the help!

At the bigger expense of destroying my rear diff I'd say get that fixed ASAP.

RTV maybe top up the gear oil and drive to the dealer.
Or do it yourself there's a great write up here on how to remove install a cover and fill.

You have a number of choices for covers, stock, arb, solid...

I would drain the oil and remove the cover. Then hammer the lip until its straight and reinstall with rtv. Or replace with a HD cover. The dealer may cover it but I doubt it.

Is there any fluid left in the diff? If you haven't been running it without fluid it should be fine. You should upgrade to heavy duty diff covers if you are going around hitting curbs like that!

I think the dealer would laugh in all honesty

It's a really slow drip I drove 200 miles home and didnt notice. If I pull the drain plug how full should the gear oil be?

The pic makes it look like it's opened up. I'd check right away to see if it has oil in it. I agree with beating it flat and installing. Maybe see if you can find a stock cover on Craigslist for cheap.

Remove the fill plug and the level should be just bellow the hole with the stock cover. Your baby finger can be used as a dipstick to feel the level

Sometimes it will just ozze out when you remove the fill plug
