Hmmm... that is a good thought there... hadent thought of it, but i think there may be a better chance it is the door strap!?!??

I will have to check it out after work, cant get out there right now. The more i think about it, the more that makes possible sense.

I have an appt. already on monday night to have it and my door seal leak problem checked into.

We shall see!
Thank you everyone for helping!

I think its because the Hinges aren't fully painted.

LOL!

It isnt the door strap, tried to make it be an issue, the door will close with it pinched in there without issue.

I looked at the Seatbelt/buckle & doorjamb area, i cannot see any obvious spots where it may have gotten banged around but i will certainly keep an eye on it next time i experience this phenomenon.

Just for the heck of it check and make sure your door bolts are tight. I remember reading another thread where they were loose from the factory and he couldn't shut his door.

Or I was dreaming and reading all the different JK sites has melted my brain :p

I second the seat belt check. On my 2001 Durango, the seat belt buckle left a nasty scratch on the driver's side door sill when it failed to retract (and I shut the door without noticing). In fact the seat belt retract mechanism got progessively weaker with age so the belt would block the latch every third time I got out of the car. I fixed the problem. I sold the car!

I have also had a problem with the latch occasionally either partially closing or not fully retratcting to the fully opened 'armed' position when the door is opened. Then when the door is closed the latch then impacts the latch bar (knob, stud, whatever the correct term is) preventing the door from closing. A weak latch spring or lack of lubrication caused this.

I have also misaligned a door preventing it from closing properly.

So opinions are free. I used to hate having a customer come to me with a problem and after some hours of work all I could say is NTF (No Trouble Found). I know there WAS an issue, but it had just gone to hide to come back yet another day. As a navy Aviation Electronics Technitian (many moons ago) I used to keep track of the serial numbers in my own log book of equipment I worked on. The third or fourth time that a piece of equipment came back for the same issue the shop policy is to make sure the equipment never came back again for that issue. It either was destroyed or sent off to a depot where a complete refurb could be done. That aside doesn't fix your problem so good luck with your search for the cause!

Mine will NOT close with it locked.

Unlocked it does, locked it won't, no way around it, maybe lift up on the handle if it is locked? haven't tried that one yet, but i never lock my doors anyway... soft top = never locked.

so there ya go, someone try push the door handle button while closing it locked to see... but if it doesn't work, just leave the doors unlocked and they close fine, at least on mine they do, but i don't have power locks either...

I have actually had the same problem. One night my drivers door was left open, and about 4 other times I have shut the door and it has bounced back. It almost seems as though the latch does not open all the way when you open it and then it will not close. I don't think it is the air pressure on account of you have to "open the door" again to make it close.

Let the group know if the dealer takes care of the problem.

This problem has happened again today. It seems like it happens when I lock the doors w/ keyfob w/ the doors open. It happened twice, but I can't recreate it . I will just lock the doors when they are all shut.
