The funny thing is it only happens when you lock the doors with the door open.

If I close it then use the keyless to lock it, it closes normal.

It's a PITA to say the least!

Old post I know but I have the answer to why the door bounces back open if nobody mentioned it already. You have to make sure that the lock is pressed all the way over, if not it not close properly. It happened to me for about a week before I figured it out, just make sure the interior door lock latch is pushed all the way as it tends to sometimes stick a little.

I heard about an exorcist that could make a killing off you guys-sounds like some kind of 'Jeep Thing' possesion.
Can't be thermal expansion/contraction unless these things are built with turbine specs. .000006"/ deg. F - .000011"/ deg. C per lineal " of steel.(C.O.E.)
Had the same w/ YJ occasionally but haven't they changed latch mech. since then?
I'm going with the possesion factor as a guess.
But seriosly if there is a striking noise associated with problem there has to be marks made at unappropriate mating surfaces. Unfortunately if dealer isn"t willing to swap out suspect latches you can only repeatedly complain about it and make sure you get and keep paperwork showing you did untill marking is evident.

Day one my driver door was out of adjustment. I tried, the dealer tried and it still doesn't close unless you kinda slam it. All the other doors are ok, it is just out of whack. I blame it on the coke can sheet metal.

i know this might seem silly, but did you check to see if it's the seatbelt getting caught in the doorway? that would explain it not happening when you open/closed repeatedly for an hour, but happens as soon as you get out to go to work.
