door higes bubbling paint
Hey you guys that painted them. Did you take the hinges off the doors to paint?
The reason I ask is that it's my understanding that Jeep assemble the doors with the hinges then paint!
I have concerns about pulling the hinges off and taking some door paint with them :(

The dealer took care of mine, 3 years after I bought it. the body shop they use took them off, bead blasted them and used a high end primer before paint. they are an aluminium alloy and paint or primer doesn't like to stick well. if you do it yourself, use good primer and prep well.
So how can you reinstall repainted hinges and not mess up the paint in the bolt heads when you are putting them back on? Wouldn't it be better to remove, sand blast, install, mask door and paint hinges?
Stupid Chrysler won't at least spray one coat of paint on the door under the hinge to prevent rusting.

Mine have already shown the signs of rusting or bubbling paint on hinges. Took to dealer and they took pictures. Had to check with Chrysler. They basically stated - not bad enough just yet. Wait till spring and we will check. They agreed they will fix, just not yet.
If the hinges are aluminum, that would explain why the paint bubbles up. Also helps explain why the back doors tend to get stiff when opening and closing. In the north where we use salt on the roads, aluminum is not a best material.
One concern of mine is if they fix it they will pull the hinges. That will mean they will need to put them back on and as of now, I have no leaks with the door seals and such. I would like to keep it that way.
I do not put a lot of faith in the warranty's. Always seem to be a hidden hook.
Not exactly happy that my 30k plus vehicle has bad paint but then - "It's a Jeep Thing" tends to apply...
Besides, the lift and tires tossed most of any warranty. hahaha
