door removal
Hi all ... New to the JK family ... I have an 07 Rubicon with electronic windows, etc ... I'd like to remove the doors but am having some difficulty. Any help or suggestions?
You need to be a bit more specific..Door bolts? Wiring harness? You need to remove the torx screw on the bottmo of the door hindges, unplug the wiring harness that powers the locks and windows (located close to door frame at bottom), and then pull up on the door. I found that if you move the door back and forth (open - close) while pulling up it works a bit better.First time removal can be a pain, doesn't hurt to give a squirt of WD40 in the hinge either.. After it's off, personnally found no need to bolt the door again, the weight keeps it on no problem..
Make sure that you have a hold of the door once you unhook that strap. The doors have a tendency to swing all the way open once they're unhooked and this can allow you're mirror to dent the side of your Jeep.
Thanks for the help ... the bolts at the bottom of the door were / are a problem. Will try your suggestions ... how about the wiring harnes any problems once the doors are removed?
I tuck mine in the door pockets. The only odd think is that the stereo stays on for that 20 seconds after shutting off the ignition. Make sure you slide the little red thingie on the plug before disconnecting as it is a lock of sorts.

does this lock out the cabin lighting as well when u pull off the doors? it's getting nice n' hot here and i want to take the doors off too for the first time, but i was concerned that the cabin lights would stay on and that i'd hafta figure out a way to keep them off.
Remove your harness first! Sounded like you were going to pull the door then the harness. The door is heavy so be prepared!
The plug can be a bear. There is a red lock that you have to pull then the harness should disconnect.
