Door surrounds
I have an 08 Sahara with a HT, just put on a bikini top and i have a small gap b/t the roll bar( where the bikini top wraps around to) and the actual door. I used to own a 06 ST and the bikini top i had for that just connected right into the grove that the ST normally went into. My question is can you buy that piece to put onto a HT? Is it even aval? Or am i left with that small gap.
Thanks,
Thanks,
a little clarification here is necessary. sorry I have problems with deciphering HT, ST, aval lol. 1, no, your 2006 bikini top will not work like the one on your JK. from 2007-2009 Jeep used a soft top that had channels for your soft top (ST) and bikini to tuck into, this is not the case ont he 2010+ models, where the jeep started using a cable system on the soft tops to hold the top tight to the door surrounds rather then a tucking/channel system for the soft top to hold to the door surrounds. so here is where it gets tricky and hard to explain. if you have a 2010+factory jeep that came with a soft top/2010+door surrounds, no you cannot buy a part to "snap" onto it to use a tucking/channel system bikini. you have to have door surrounds that will match/work with your corresponding "years" (2007-09, or 2010+) bikini top.
2007-2009 bikini, these will work like your old TJ, where you tucked the top into the door surrounds to make it a tight seal. you will have to have door surrounds designed for 2007-2009 that have the channel built into them for the plastic tab in the canvas to tuck into
2010+ bikini, these will not work like your old TJ, these years use a tension bar and larger straps to hold it to the rollbar and door surrounds for the newer Jeep design. reminder in these years, Jeep used a cable system, NOT A CHANNEL SYSTEM, so there will be NO where to tuck an older model bikini (2007-2009) into the newer stye door surrounds (2010+).
sucks as they are different designs, but the newer style softop with the cable systems are so much more convenient and easier to work with them channel/tucking.
In short terms though, no...there is no part you can add to your door surrounds to make it work, you have to have the correct surrounds. or the correct bikini to match your door surrounds.
