Default Doors off. Cablight!

Ok Im not gonna wait til summer to find out, but when the doors come off does the cablight stay off? Or do I have to buy that piece like the 06' wranglers to keep the cablight button pressed in?

There's a wiring harness attached to the door. When you unplug the harness along with the door strap, it keeps the cablight off regardless of the doors. So nope, no little piece to buy!

Actually my first thought was "you have to be kidding me! An entire harness so the lights stay off? Couldnt we just install a "doors are off switch" or somethings. Seems ridiculous to have an entire harness (unless of coarse you have PL PW etc).

Mine goes off with the little twist switch on the left-hand stem control. It will also come on with the same stem control. Hasn't been an issue with me. Take care... Mike

Well I guess it's cumbersome for the rugged types. I have power stuff in my doors. So I would be unhooking mine anyway. So it's a bonus not to have an additional switch somewhere to mess with.

The older Jeeps had the push button switch to turn off the lights (the door closed onto the switch) which was the problem. All JKs have the harness, as the door ajar feature is attached to the door latch inside the door. Because there is no physical switch to close onto, and total removal of the door latch, there's no need for a "doors are off switch".

Just be careful when pulling the harness off... there's a red sliding plastic 'safety' on it... otherwise, you'll just get frustrated or break it.

But then how would you know when the doors are open when they are on the Jeep? That would probably really mess up the computer that has that in the dash.
