Default Dose Esp have some thing to do with Limited slip differential ?

Hi jeepers

I have 2dr jeep wrangler JK 2008 ( Sport ) I dont know if u guys have ( Sport ) in US
but it has same differential and suspension of Sahara

I have turned of the ESP completely in 2wd and 4wd using the loooong method of turning the stearing wheel to left and push the buttion then turn it right ... etc

I have noticed one day that if the engine is on and the jk is lefted and if you spin one of the tires with your hand the other one will spin in the opposet direction !!!!!

in Meddle east all jeep wranglers comes with limited slip diff even my friends tried that with there jeeps the both tires spin in the same direction not like mine !! why mine is acting like open diff !?!?!? is that because of the ESP OFF thing ? my friend still keeping there esp on : ) thanks in advance.

ESP has nothing to do with the limited slip differential.

If both rear tires are off the ground, and the transmission is in neutral, the tires should spin in the same direction when you spin one by hand, and you have limited slip that is not worn out.

A worn out limited slip differential will act like an open differential.

A problematic ESP/Traction Control won't cause the symptom the OP described.

The torque for the differential fill plug on the JK Dana 44 cover is 25 ft./lbs.

An open differential without limited slip or posi traction will do what the OP is describing.

When I gave the torque for the fill plug, my only interest was presenting correct information. It never even occurred to me to ridicule you.
I can see your thought process is a little different from mine. I don't understand why you would do that.

This is a copy/paste right out of the factory service manual:

2. Install cover (1), identification tag (3) and tighten cover bolts in a criss-cross pattern to 41 N·m (30 ft. lbs.).
3. Fill differential to specifications.
4. Install fill plug (2) and tighten to 34 N·m (25 ft. lbs.).
