Default Driveshaft help!

Have a stockish 2007 jk and i need help help looking for a universal joint for the front driveshaft. Why is this so hard to find! its the joint on the yoke side of the front differential, which is the dana 30. cv on the back side at the transfer case. 4wd 2 door. i just cant find a part number for this darn thing anywhere, and dont want to take it off until i do. causing a pretty good shimmy in the front end. thank for the help everyone!

Are you referring to a factory driveshaft or aftermarket? Seems like it could be factory since you reference the CV joint on the TC side, but you also note a yoke at the diff side where the factory has a flange. If it is a factory shaft, that u-joint is not made to be replaceable......although there are a few threads out there where people worked around that to replace anyhow.

yes it's a factory drive shaft. Sorry about the yoke confusion. Your right about the flange. So if I have play in that u joint what are my options? I'm new to this forum stuff. And I've been searching for some ki d of answer for awhile and cant find anything related. There's got to be some sort of replacement of the joint and not the whole shaft...

What you'll find is that u-joint is not held in with clips, and therein lies the big issue. I would probably pull the front DS for the time being while you sort things out. Although spending the money on a new DS would stink, you're fighting an uphill battle trying to replace that u-joint IMO. Google around though. I swear I recall from long ago someone actually managing to do so....probably with some fabricating work as well.

Yeah Resharp is right. That joint is held in with some plastic shit poured in after it is installed at the factory. (Probably quicker to use circlips like they have for a 100 years.) There are some people that can change them but really they want to sell you a new shaft. Try talking to the Jeep dealer as they may help you. I have 2 good shafts sitting in my garage for my son when his crap out.
