This is driving me crazy!

It would help to know if those who upgraded their steering system with PSC components still have this clunk or not !

If it was the joint in the shaft I think I would feel the knock either turning left or right, that is a splined joint and when a splined joint develops some play left or right should be the same.
I know what you are talking about as far as feeling it in the pedals as well but I get the click going either way so I am picking up grease and going to give the boot an injection.

injecting some grease won't hurt. I did it already but didn't fix anything

Since I don't feel any knock in cold days and before the JK warms up I wonder if shielding the shaft from heat or installing a steering fluid cooler could work

Today I decided to check my intermediate shaft and collar again: I grabbed the upper intermediate shaft and tried to move it. It looked solid.

Then I did the same with the lower intermediate shaft (between the boot and the steering box) and I found some play in the joint between the shaft and the steering box !!!

I still don't know if it's due to the bolt that is loose (I don't have a wrench to get there) or to the C joint.

But I could feel the play and hear the knock each time I moved the shaft.

check the bolt on the lower intermediate shaft and re-torque it even if it looks tight. That solved my problem about 2 months ago and from then no more clunk.

Hmm, is that a set screw? Does it have an allen head? My 07' is different. It has a pinch bolt that squeezes the end together.

exactly, there's a bolt that squeezes the end together. The bolt must be well tight. You'll need a T wrench (about 20" long) to torque it.

Default clapping noise

I get that clapping noise when I let up the clutch too. It's more obvious in 4Lo but it's been that way for a few years (I think since I got the jeep) and I've driven it 71,000 miles so far with no issue other than the annoying noise.

Does everyone else with a manual get this noise?
