Egr
I have read previous threads on replacement. My question is as follows. Let me start by listing our vehicle. 2009 Jeep Wrangler 4dr auto 4x4. We recently got the P0405 code. Jeep is running fine. We just exceeded our 3yr warranty. We are the origiinnal owners. The jeep currently has 36,060 miles. We are located in Arkansas where there is no emision test or law. The dealer says we are not covered but mechanic at a tuneup shop states government warranty should still cover this part/issue. Any clarification would be great.

The EGR is covered by the Federal 2-year/24k mi. warranty, but the Chrysler 3-yr/36 warranty covers it, too. The Federal 8/80 only covers the PCM and cat. converter.
But, the California Certified emission control system is 3 yr/50k miles for any emissions related part/labor.
If your vehicle is equipped with a California Certified
Emission Control System and is registered in California,
Massachusetts, Maine, Vermont, Connecticut, Rhode
Island, or Pennsylvania, the California Emission
Warranty also applies.
I understand it is a bit more difficult on rigs with auto-transmissions. I think it's the trans fluid dipstick tube that makes it hard to remove a bolt or something. There is a write up somewhere on the forum. I think there was a "shortage" of the part, too, at one point.
