EGR issues
Hey Guys,
I have a 2008 JKU, 96000 miles, former daily driver, occasional driver now. I have had the EGR valve replaced at least 4 times, maybe 5. The last replacement was 6 months and 325 miles ago and now I have a light and a 0405 code. I am getting pretty tired of this ongoing problem and I'm wondering if there is a permanent fix, is this something that is a consistent issue and has to be lived with or are we not doing something right?
Thanks, Terry

I had a bad unit out of the box but I've only replaced it (including the bad one) three times in 233k miles. Are you replacing the gaskets when you're putting in the new EGR valve? Assuming you're using a decent brand- I had bad luck with the advance auto house brand but the Napa line works. New metal and cork gaskets and I've also pulled out that metal hard line and run brake cleaner through it, particularly the end on top of the motor where that hot exhaust gas is coming back in and the oil is hitting it.
