EGR valve... AGAIN!!
So I changed out my EGR valve maybe 2 years ago. Was good for a while.
Engine light came on again. I changed it again. Light went off immediately. Code for both times was P1404
Now it came back on for P0406.
What the hell?
It's 2011 JKU sport well taken care of with 72500 on it.
Jeep also burns oil. Never buying another jeep again. These things are built like garbage.

I guess lll try it. Such a pain though man I'm so annoyed I refuse to pay the dealer $500 to fix a useless part of the vehicle.
I changed my battery hoping it was messing with the valve since its overdue for replacement, no dice.
The code I replaced it originally for the first and second time was P1406.
The code now with the brand new valve installed is P0406. (EGR position sensor high)
No difference in vehicle performance just changed the oil as well. She runs fine no issues. Does burn oil though very slowly but it's been at that for a while.

I received a defective EGR valve when I replaced it initially. The second one I received has been just fine.
The valve was $125 from rock auto with a lifetime replacement if I remember right, or maybe I went to the Napa store- either way, I received essentially a stock part for cheaper than stock and it functions well and has a warranty.
To say that they're junk is a very broad statement. I'm at 130k on that same 3.8l that you've got and I've had very minimal issues- EGR and throwout bearing. This is 10x cheaper and easier to fix than my 09 GTI with similar mileage.

I had for a while the egr valve light po405 on but I knew that I had to clean it since I do it every two years but this time I decided to change it, so I when and bought from big city a egr valve made in Mexico and replace It, deleted the code with the scanner, drove couple mile and the engine light when back on, I check with the scanner and said again po405 position sensor circuit low, I guessed that it might had to do with the fact that is not original so I go and buy a new egr valve made in China, I replace the part delete the code and drive on, this time I was sure that it will go away but no luck after few miles (4-5mil) engine light came back on, I took out the engine computer and cleaned it but it back on and again, light engine.
Please can someone help, I tried to find online the diagram of the engine computer to find the egr valve wire to make sure that it's 5V on it but I couldn't find something.
If anyone has aomthing to suggest or knows we're I can find the diagram pls post thank you
