Default electrical problem?? HELP!!!

im having some sort of electrical problem, my jeep runs fine but as soon as it gets hot enough for the fan to cut on, the interior lights start flickering, radio cuts out and the fan spins then stops and spins again, causing the jeep to get 3/4 heated...could my alternator be bad? or a short in the fan......

All imput would help greatly

Events leading to this: went thru a pretty deep mud hole if that helps any???

Yes, check ground connections.
As a first step in any "flakey" electrical problem, check battery connections both hot and ground, and condition of battery. A weak battery drives the computer crazy.
Then check alternator connections and its operation for the same reasons.

Now, given that the problems appeared after a deep water adventure, all of the above may or may not apply. Instead, you may have gotten water into something that doesn't like it. Check the box full of fuses under the hood as well as the computer to see if water has infiltrated the connectors or is under the covers.

And, since the fan turning on seems to trigger the problem, check the fan motor to see if it or its connectors have taken in water that may be causing partial or intermittent shorting.

Use your imagination and be creative in your search. Just don't break anything. Perhaps park it in the sun with the hood open and let it dry out really well.

im wondering if the alternator got damaged and when the fan kicks on it drains the battery faster than the alternator is putting out amps, but the alternator is fine with normal engine running?
