Default Electronic Throttle Control Problems

Every time I drive my '07, the ETC light (red, looks like reversed parenthesis "); (" with a lightning bolt in the middle) comes on. Sometimes the engine shutters, but doesn't seem to cause any problems after. It will stay on until I shut the engine off. I took it to the dealer yesterday (out of warranty because of high miles) and they told me the fix is found in case number K5381816 and requires a gold contact throttle body connector for $50.00 and about $140 for installation. I told the dealer that I shouldn't have to pay for a poorly selected connector. I did nothing to cause this. They said it would not have ever been covered under a drivetrain warranty.

Any body else have this problem? Anyone have a better fix?

WOW that sounds like the biggest load of B.S. from a dealer ever, but you could try doing a search

Sometimes the engine shutters slightly, but no loss of power. It's more of an annoyance at this time, but I worry about the future. Good luck with your dealer. It would be great if you write about your experience.

I searched for that case number on Google with no results. Must not be published on the net yet.

No aftermarket chip installed, but thanks for the heads-up!

Mine goes off like a Christmas tree light when I'm in 4wH on the beach--real PITA to have the governor driving against me!

FWIW: I've read about a turnbuckle on the steering stabilizer to center your steering, especially if you've lifted it. Could this be the problem? Your sensors always reading that your wheel's turned when it isn't? my $.02
