emergency brake light keeps coming on?????
so about a week ago my emergency brake light on the dash keeps popping up, i know that if ur in drive with the e brake on it will ding but its fully down/disengaged and i dont know whats up, it should happens when i stop at a redlight and when i pull up on the e brake a little it goes away but comes back on again real quick, maybe i need new brakes? anybody have any answers
i don't know if the wranglers are set up the same way but i had a jetta a few years back that did that too. i took it to the dealership and they told me to check the brake fluid. It ended up being low so everytime i took off or stopped the fluid would slosh past the sensor and it flashed the light on the dash an dinged at me.
You expect a lot of people.
11. Brake Warning Light
After ignition is turned on, illuminates to indicate
function check at vehicle start-up. Indicates parking
brake is applied. If the light stays on when the
parking brake is off, it indicates a possible brake system
fluid leak or low pressure level, see your authorized
dealer immediately.

I recently noticed this same issue on my 2007. I noticed that my brake fluid level is at the low mark which is most likely because my rear pads are close to needing replacement.
After a week of getting the "light" on and off I now have a metallic noise that increases with wheel speed and stops when I apply the brakes. The noise is only apparent after the Jeep has sat parked for a while (overnight or during work for example).
After a little driving and applying the brakes the noise goes away (almost seems like when the brake system has warmed up a little).
Upon further inspection, I now see that my e-brake is not stopping the Jeep from moving at all. So here is my current action plan for the weekend:
1) Check the e-brake cable underneath the vehicle (Does anyone know what to look for or have any images of the cable?). I have never had to check for this type of problem before.
2) Remove the rear wheels and check to see if the e-brake is sticking or is making contact with something.
Anyone else have thoughts on this problem? My Jeep only has 24,000 miles and has stock suspension. I do a good amount of off-roading, but it has been a few months and i didn't have any issues until now.

There is a thread somewhere on this. Search for it. Has pics and all, just cant remember where. Probably your sensor connector on the brakes base which is inside your floor console. Mine did it, was loose.
That little wire could be the culprit. When I changed my brake lever after my cable snapped, I noticed how loose this connection was and tried to tighten it down on the metal prong better.
You may need to check your brake pads to see if you are due for a brake job. I am a police officer and have been driving crown vics for 17 years. I can tell I am due for a brake job when the brake light flickers on and off intermittently. As the brake pads wear, the pads have to travel further to grab and subsequently it causes the level to drop in the reservoir. If your brake fluid looks a little low, this may be the cause. After I have the brake pads replaced, the fluid level rises and the light does not come on. Good luck.
