Default Emissions Question

My dealer tells me that all the new Jeeps (JK's in this case) are 50 state emissions legal yet I have noticed that the ones here in California specifically say "California Emissions" as an option on the window sticker and there is a specific option code for CA emissions. Anybody know if a Jeep bought outside CA can be brought into CA if it does not have the "CA emissions" option? If they are all 50 state legal as my dealer says, why is there is separate CA option? Cornfused...

Yes they can be brought into the state. Even if it is not CA legal, all it needs is to meet federal standards. Out of state cars are brought in every day. Most new cars are 50 state legal though.

Default But selling is different.

You can bring it in without a problem,

However....
If you decide to sell it here you have to pass the CA emissions testing in order to transfer title to the buyer for their registration...it is the responsibility of the seller.

I am currently getting ready to take mine for inspection tomorrow so I can put it out on the for sale lot. I brought mine in from VA but need to sell here in CA where I am living. Hope I pass!
