Default Engine compatibility...???

So when I bought the motor, it was directly advertised as fitting a 2012-2013 Jeep wrangler. I got a message from the seller saying there may need to be some swapping done; timing cover due to differences in tensioner location, oil pans if different due to off-road packages. But the long block and heads are the same.

The shop it's at is wondering if this is all true, as the intake manifold is also different and looks to be from a different Chrysler vehicle with the 3.6l

I'm ok getting a different intake manifold as the motor was fairly priced with very low miles. The shop tends to think it's out of a 2020, I'm guessing based on VIN? If so, electronics could be different as well. The seller is established with tons of great reviews and they say it'll work.

What do you all think?

What I think, Something is Fishy.. Where did the VIN come from? Check the VIN = www.dmvrecords.us.org/land/v3 Get the Part on the block and get on line - find out what that engine is. Do you trust the shop you have it at?

I've attached a photo of the listing. It does look different to a normal wrangler engine. I just didn't know since I was supercharged.

I trust them enough. A smaller garage but have been very fair price wise. They specialize in turbos and supercharged engines. I don't truly know as I've always worked on my own vehicles. I'm out of the loop for decades now.

I'll get the Vin. Somehow the ad didn't list it. Pretty annoyed right now. I just want this thing on the road.

I got some clarification. The long block and heads are the same. I need to swap everything over, timing cover, oil pans, accessories, valve covers, buy an intake manifold...there's even a broken bolt in the intake manifold thread.

I feel beat down by this whole thing. The shop says they can do it, but he'll have to charge some because it's not a direct swap. We originally worked out a deal where they keep the supercharger and install my motor......charger for labor cost. Now I need to buy more parts and probably pay more.

what would you all do?

If you can get your $$ back...I'd walk away from it due to having been supercharged.. who knows what is internal now.. Look at a REMAN Engine with a 3 yr / 100,000 mile Parts and Labor warranty.. Check on the internet and also salvage yards. Many salvage yards do sell a P & L warranty too. compare the prices..
