Engine noise
First let me say thanks for all the great info on this forum. I have searched around a bit and can't find a specific resolution for this, so here goes:
I have a 2010 4dr ruby manual and its always been what I would consider a little loud in terms of engine noise from the driver's seat.. I know its a jeep etc, but just wondering if there's a way to quieten the engine down during acceleration? I have noticed putting better gas in it helps, but it seems like there's inadequate insulation between me and the engine. Its only loud in the driver's seat, passenger seat is fine. I included a picture of my steering column as I get the clunk too. Does the grommit look like its too far out? Could this be allowing extra noise through the firewall? It seems snug. The engine sounds fine from the outside. From the inside, it sounds like a loud freewheel or maybe an exhaust leak or something.
Thanks for any info you can provide. If I just need to get over it, feel free to tell me that too. I've never driven another JK, so I'm not sure if its normal or not.
