Stock JK TechBulletin board forum regarding issues with OE (original equipment) components of the Jeep JK Wrangler (Rubicon, Sahara, Unlimited and X) such as factory suspension parts, engine, transmission, body parts, interior fixtures and the on-board computer.
I'm posting this for a buddy of mine. He has a 2011 JK Unlimited Sahara with 3.8 engine and auto tranny. He states he had the engine replaced (not sure why) but is now leaking oil all over his driveway. I took this pic below and something isn't lining up correctly and you can see the oil drips. I have a 2013 manual so I can't compare directly to mine. Maybe you guys can help us figure out what's messed up. TIA.
It's possible for oil to leak from somewhere else and travel back to this area. Do a visual search for any evidence of that. If that is lacking, then either the engine or the transmission is leaking it at their respective seals above there. What kind of fluid is it? My guess would be a rear main seal on that new engine. It's also possible that the shop that did the install didn't clear up any residual mess in the bell housing from the first engine, and now that's all that is leaking.
