Default engine question

ok, so when i am trying to 2 wheel up something if i get to a spot that has a lot of resistance i give it a lot more gas but it don't start spinning (even in sand) and revving it just sits there at like 2500 rpm and kinda stalls.. and i have the ESP button switched to off. any ideas why it wont let me give it the gas?

You have the 3.21 ratio on 33's? Drop in 4 low.... sounds like you might need to regear I thought the 08x's came with the 3.21's if so that will definately make a strain unless you are in 4L...

You can't completely disable ESP in 2WD - you're likely fighting against ESP in these situations. The solution? Shift into 4HI, and hold down the ESP button for 5 seconds to disable ESP as completely as Jeep will allow (outside of 4LO).

ok, he's right on the money.. i just wanted to be able to try stuff in 2WD before i try it in 4WD.. thanks for the tip about holding in while in 4HI..
i have 3.73 gears.. but that isn't the issue... it gets to 2400 RPM and just idles.. will not spin at all. so now i understand why. thanks for the help guys.
if anyone knows how to fully disable ESP in 2WD please fill me in (note** i don't wanna cut wires and put in a switch)
thanks to everyone for the help.

Side note** the X does come with 3.21 gears but i got lucky and the one i bought had been upgraded from the factory

Uhhh, so far the only remedy is to cut and splice, and put in a switch, thats what I did. Another guy on here also pulls a fuse, J7, I think, don't need to cut and splice fot that. Other than that, no new stuff, trust me I've looked for it.
