Default Engine repair/swap

I have an 04 Liberty limited 3.7 overheated won’t start.

mech recommended compression check to begin.

if heads are to be removed, do I leave the exhaust manifolds on?

I have a donor motor 3.7 with a new radiator - if I’m swapping that out, would it be easier to remove the front clip/fenders?

TIA for your time and experience!

Welcome to JKF.. to your questions.. If only removing the Heads.. you could leave the manifolds on, they will be much heavier, but you won't have the worry about broken bolts/studs until you have them on the bench.. If doing the engine change however, it is much work to remove the fenders-rad support - PCM etc.Not Sure it would be easier; .- most I know do not remove all that - just the radiator/condenser . Are you planning to uncouple the trans from the engine? Be sure to support the trans
