My esb/bas light came on today. This includes the traction control slide light
I changed my brake pads about 6 weeks ago but these lights have never came on in the past. Anyone know WTF? Has this happened to any fellow JK'rs?

1. Check steering wheel is centered.

2. Check that air pressure in tires is even and not too high.

3. Check wires going to speed sensors/ tone rings for damage.

4. Clock spring may have failed.

5. Esp/ stability black box may be bad.

Check items 1-3 first, then disconnect battery and touch cables together to reset computer.

If the problem persists, check items 4 and 5.

Mine did the same thing last week. I just turned it off and restarted it and everything was ok, the computer system must be made by Microsoft.

The wire for the front sensor is right behind your wheel and attached to the knuckle with a bracket.

Google part # 68003281AA for a picture of the wire and sensor.

Have you wheeled it recently or did something that could have affected your alignment or caused the steering wheel to lose center? Typically that indicates that the steering wheel is unacceptably off-center. Happened to me after a hard day of crawling. The first full turn of the wheel I made, those lights came on. I drove up to a gas station, loosened the adjuster, and straightened the wheel as best I could. Drove for a while, then made another full turn of the steering wheel and the warning lights immediately went away.

Mine did the same thing; however, since it appears to have been an isolated occurrence, i have not pursued troubleshooting. I am curious about what may have caused this.

Mine came on once when I was driving on black top, around a bend and the passanger rear tire fell into a pothole on the side of the road. I was doing probably 35-40mph. The lights came on and stayed on for 2 ignition cycles and have not been seen since.
