Excuse my ignorance-hard top installation kit?
Hi everyone,
I'm new to the Jeep world so please excuse my lack of knowledge. I've done some searches on this forum as well as the net. Is there an installation kit for the hard tops? I've seen the 'clamp' type installation but I was looking for something like the OEM type. I've read the hard tops tend to crack so I know about the bigger washer or other support, just not sure about the regular bolts (if that's what they are called).
My Jeep and hard top are pre-wired so that saves $150+. Just not sure what to use to secure the top to the Jeep?
Thanks for any help.

I suggest that you start in the For Sale section of this forum. Be patient and you should be able to find someone within reasonable driving distance who wants to sell their hardtop. That happens because people buy new JKs on the lot that have the dual top group, but don't want one top or the other. Going price is about half what you'll pay new from the dealer. Once you find the top, just go there and make certain that the seller provides all the attaching hardware. Since you have your Jeep "pre-wired", I assume that you mean you have the wiring for the rear window defogger, and the wiring and hose connection for the soccer mom rear window wiper-washer. You'll just need the Torx head screws that hold the top in place (six for two doors; eight for four doors). Those work fine as long as you tighten them gently. Or, pick up Woods' kit (jeepswag.com). Oh, and there are two big, plastic headed screws that go through the sound bar. I almost forgot those because I haven't used them in forever; I just keep them in the glove box when the hardtop is on.

if you just need the bolts to hold the top to the tub, google: Cool Tech Hardtop Quick Disconnect T-Bolts. nice set for about $20.
your thread title reminded me of my all-time favorite graffitti:

If you so desire, you could also stop by your local dealer. Each bolt is a few dollars from them. As far as using large washers, I used a piece of flat stock aluminum and drilled some holes and cut to length. I could of used washers but was bored one day...

I really like that. I had my 03 F150 from brand new and I knew every inch of that truck inside and out. I feel like a Jeep virgin

I got these quick installation bolts for my 09 Jeep and they are so much easier because you tighten them by hand and don't need to mess around with a torx screw head and they're only $35.00
