exhaust loop
If you are talking about the loop under the left side of 2012+ JKs...
This is only an opinion. But the only thing I can think of is it balances the length of the left and right exhaust pipes.
People have eliminated it with no apparent ill effects. I say apparent because they would not have put it there if it were not beneficial in some way.
Thinking of it a little more, (sometimes I sits and thinks, sometimes I just sits.), it would match the distance the exhaust pulses have to travel before they enter the wye.
Since the firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6, the pulses would be properly staggered at the wye and not interfere with each other. In fact, the passing of one pulse would help draw the next pulse from the other side.
