expiration time of a waranty fix?
Anyone know if there is a rule, law, stipulation, on the expiration of a waranty fix?
What I mean is this. Lets say my waranty expries at 50K and I'm at 49,500.
I have them fix something that falls under the waranty. What happens if at 51K the same problem comes back. Does/can the dealer say, sorry to bad so sad.
I know if it is a good dealer, then yeah, maybe, but are they technically still responsible for the fix even after the waranty?
I figure I will always keep ALL documentation, but can I go back and say, hey a month ago you fixed this and now its back.

If you had a problem "fixed" under warranty, then later after the warranty has expired the same problem reoccurs, then you should by all rights be able to have it fixed under warranty. The reason being is it is a reoccuring problem that was first addressed under warranty and was never resolved. I am no lawyer, but I don't see any reasonable dealer refusing that as long as you arent abusing the part or voiding your warranty in another manner (taxi service, rental vehicle, etc).
I have had warranty work done on other vehicles in the past and was told the repair was warrantied for 12 Months our 12,000 miles.... haven't had an issue with the JK so I'm not sure what they'd say...
Yes I agree. Most dealers factory parts carry a time period or warranty period, as does the labor. Therefore if at 49500 miles you have an item repaied under the warranty and 29 days later at a miliage of 50001 it fails again it should be covered, even if the warranty was up at 50000 miles.
Ok thanks. So the consensus is that the work and the parts itself has a waranty after it is done. Good point. So after I get any work done, just find out how long the work and parts are covered. Thanks

I would ask at the time of repair, "how long is this good for?".
I'm sure they would cover it, you may have to work at, or ask for their manager. Any repair that fails after 500 miles or less than a rear just wasn's done right.

I work for GM and we get alot of people coming in with complaints right before there waranty expires. We tell them as long as they have that the concerned is documented while they still have a waranty, if that warranty expires and the problem still persists we will cover it, that is also within a reasonable amount of time. Usualy like everyone else said, 12 months 12 thousand miles, some parts manufacturers even offer life time guarantee on parts too.
