Default Extended Warrenty Advice

I am interested in purchasing an Extended Warranty for my 2007 JK Sahara 4DR 4x4 that I got last week. The extended warranty is through Cuna Mutual Group (Members Choice), which is offered by my Credit Union. The warranty is $1500 for 72months/90,000 miles. My question is should I wait till it gets closer to the Expiration of my manufacture warranty, which will be up in 2 years/29,0000 miles.

I did call my local Jeep Dealer and I was informed that they do accept the warranty as they pay for claims via credit card at the time of the repair. I was also told my by Credit Union that it would be better to get it a year before my warranty ends, as with most aftermarket warranties they do not like it when you make a claim within the first 6months to a 1 year.

The down side to getting an extended warranty it that I will not be lifting my jeep in the next 6 years. Since it is my Daily Driver I don't think i will be lifting it anyways.

Any advice would be greatly appriciated. Thanks

I'm right with you on being "kinda" nice to my daily driver--ie no lift or gear swap for a few years--but don't we both have the LIFETIME powertrain warranty? I know warranties are the discretion of the Jeep mechanics, but my only real concern is the future of JeepChrysler. and NO, I DO NOT trust the government, this is none of their business

So you're willing to bet $1,500 that your Jeep will break within 72 months and that it will cost more than $1,500 to fix it? I would take the $1,500, put it in the bank, earn some interest and keep it for IF (BIG IF) something that big actually does break.
And what's this about the warranty company not liking claims within 6 months? So take my money and then don't allow me to make claims?

To answer your question the Jeep was purchased by the 1st owner on 4/8/2008. I purchased the Jeep on 4/16/2009 and it only has approximately 7000miles

Well the extended warranty is no through Chrysler and does not have to be used at a Chrysler Dealer and can be used at any Mechanic that accepts credit cards. Part of the reason I didn't by a new Jeep is one I got a great deal on my 2007 JK Sahara 4dr 4x4 (6,500 miles for $16,000). Also the second reason is that Chrysler is having a world of problems.

They will let you make claims, I know they are just reviewed more carefully. I have had an extended warranty through a different company before on my other Jeep (95 YJ 4CYL, 3in Lift), however I lifted my jeep and they gave me a hard time everytime I brought it in. Not to mention that company is no longer in business.
