Default Extra Srap in Glove Box

Hi all,

I was going through my glove box after taking delivery of my 2-door JK X and I noticed an extra black nylon strap in clear plastic (factory) bag (in addition to some license plate screws). I am at work now, but I think it folded in half and had a snap on it.

Does anyone know what this strap is for?

Is DC trying to tell me that I need an extra pull strap for my rear seat because it will likely tear out?

thanks

Still waiting delivery of my new JK but when I got my YJ it had straps for strapping the windshield down if you were ever inclined to fold it down.

I dont have the sunrider top, just the standard soft top. I have a rather early build Jeep. I have 2 sets of snapped straps. If i recall correctly they have female snap halves?

Its for tying down the windshield,,
They come with every jeep, but I'd bet less than 3% ever get used,,

The elastic straps with the snap buttons keeps your soft secure when down (at least that is what they are doing on mine).

Thread the rear window channel through both of these when you lower your top. After the top is lowered you will see the other half of the button snap on the soft top frame. Pull strap down and around the soft top and snap into the button on the inside frame and snap- top secured (i know this does not make any sense whatsoever, just look at it when you put your top down ). Doing this also keeps you rear window channel in place...

The straps with velcro keep the side post secure, it is actually shown in the owners manual.

Default For rear window

The extra straps are for holding the soft top back window up. The snaps attach to top back of the soft top. You unzip both sides of the window, roll it up, and the straps support the window. Be carefull though - I did this and scratched the windows. I'm thinking about making a felt cover for the window to protest it when rolled up.
