Default Factory, in-dash navigation and DVD repair?

My '09 JK Unlimited X has a factory Jeep in-dash DVD/Nav system--as worked without issue since I bought it used in September '14...until now. DVD's will read, but no longer show an image, the "Show Video" button doesn't even show up anymore. And the GPS refuses to recognize my location. I put a scratched DVD in the deck two weeks ago (one of my daughters for distraction ), and maybe it was just a coincidence, but ever since I've had issues with the DVD and nav system.

Has anyone else had issues with a factory installed, Jeep DVD/nav system? If so, how did you remedy? I'd prefer not to go to an authorized Jeep dealership and pay a fortune for them to tell me I need a new one.

Haven't seen this, not sure how a scratched CD/DVD would cause it, but you never know. Try unhooking the negative battery cable for about 20 minutes an see if that fixes it. You may lose your presets but I think they may stay.

Also which Nav unit do you have?

There's a company out of Florida that repairs the units for $150 and up. It may be worth asking them. I assure you it'll be cheaper than a dealer replacement.

Turns out that the hard reset disconnecting the negative worked like a charm. Saved me a trip and potential $'s.

Appreciate it!
