Default Factory fender flare rubbing on body and rusting?

I noticed that my front factory fender flares are rubbing on the paint near the bottom and it's beginning to rust. Anyone else have this happen and what did you do to protect the paint?

Mine are. Especially the one I knocked loose on a tree. I've cleaned it and used touch-up paint but no real fixes yet. I'm waiting to see if the ACE flares are gonna be released soon, then figure out a good pattern for Line-X.

How close it the rubbing to the brake lines? A while back there was a recall because factory fender liners were rubbing the brake lines. I looked at mine and the driver side had worn th eblack paint off the tubing. I cut a notch out of the fender. Next time I take it in for something I will have them log the recall as complete.

Are you the original owner?

When i took my stock flares off to install my Bushwhackers it was apparent that all four had rubbed the paint off to one degree or another. Some of it was through the topcoat and some was through the primer and rusting. Another brilliant design by our friends at Chrysler. I touched up everything then put a strip of clear adhesive backed plastic everywhere the flares touch the body........then I installed the Bushwhackers. No problems since.

I replaced one a while back and if I recall it was just a plastic clip you push through the fender.
