Default factory receiver hitch size

Is the factory receiver hitch a 2" receiver or a 1.25" receiver? I'm ordering a bike rack for the hitch and want to make sure I order the correct size. My Jeep should enter production on Wednesday!

The rack I'm interested in is the Yakima HookUp 2 bike rack which is available in both 1.25 and 2" versions.

Thanks,
Glen

Check to make sure it will clear the spare tire. I dont have a bike rack yet, but I know I read some threads on here where certain racks wouldnt clear the spare tire.

+1 on that. I bought a hitch mounted luggage rack, it clears, but just barely. I could definatly see the tire potentially causing issues.

I purchased a Bell 4 bike rack at Wal-Mart and it didn’t clear the spare tire by a 1/8 inch. I Had to get a extension It was possible to force it on but it was hitting the rim and I was worried it would scratch it while driving.

Thanks for the info and the reminder about the spare tire. The Yakima fit guide says it will fit Jeep JKs. Also this rack is a tray that you sit the bikes in rather than a post with arms which might make the fit a bit easier. I'll order it from a place where it is 100% returnable just in case though.

I have to have a bike rack. Day 1. Unless there is lightning.

My bike rack, which I've had for years, is a 1.25" with an adapter that bolts over the shaft to enlarge it to 2". It works quite well in my 2" receiver hitch on my F150, but won't clear the spare on my JK. Also, although I can lower that bike rack, it's awkward, making access through the tail gate a real pain in the rear (if I bought an extension, that is), so I went with the Mopar bike rack that bolts onto the spare tire mount.

I think you're right. There's this wonderful bit of legaleze at the bottom of the Yakima fit guide results:

External spare-tires or other vehicle features may also cause interference with this product.
In other words, they're saying their fit guide is useless.

I suppose I can alway bungee the bike to the roll bars.

My yakima King Pin 4 clears it and I have the 18's from factory. It may not look like it will clear but the pin goes though fine. No issue with rim rash or anything with it
