Default Factory Shock Problems

I had a funny noise coming from around the passenger wheel so I took it in. Turns out one of the rubber shock bushings had broken apart and was actually gone in this case. The service guy told me that it was a common problem with the Rubicon and he sees it quite often. I hadn't seen or heard much about this so at least we have it documented now.

That is odd. So far I have heard about some aftermarket shock bushings failing, not factory ones. I have an X with the HD shocks but will keep an eye on them.

I just had my second factory bushing blow out. Both passenger and driver side went bad... the one that just went bad actually streched OVER the washer and was below it!!!

Not sure If my driving style has anything to do with it... but I haven't been offroad in a few months... and only about 5 times total.

I'm considering aftermarket shocks just so I don't have to worry about another one going out!!!

Yes... it was a metal on metal sound at every single small bump... and I'm talking small bumps in the roadway.

In regards to flipping them over... I had one go out before I flipped them over... and the other... that streched over the washer... was after I flipped them over in conjunction with the Teraflex Budget Boost with Shock Extenders. Those washers are HUGE... I still can't figure it out!

I just had my 5th one go in 7000 miles. Is there another way to mount these shocks or a different type of shock mount that will stop this? I hate trying to reach the top bolt and get the shock on/off. I'm going to look around. so on ruby doo you put the t shaped bushing on top and the doughnut on the bottom. This helped?
