Default Fan? 1 or 2 speed and when does it come on?

I've heard that we have a 2 speed fan and others say a single speed. Does anybody know for sure one way or the other.

At what temp does the fan come on; and if a 2 speed when does it go to high speed?

I've installed an Aeroforce Interceptor and am going to try to use it to turn the fan on at a lower temp.

we definitely have a 2speed fan, it will always go on high anytime the AC is turned on, not sure at what temp it comes on otherwise

The fan motor is a single speed motor with dual controls, one being the a/c switch which turns the fan on when on the ""max"" position to aid in heat removal from the interior. The other control is the engine temperature control which turns on the fan when the water temperature reaches a predetermined point. This point is determined by emission requirements in tandem with actual engine cooling needs. This fan assembly is well designed, seems to work very well when left alone but does not lend itself to water or mud exposure, as some on the forum will testify to....

Does the manual say at what temps the fan comes on or changes speeds?

Defintely a 2 speed fan. I've had mine sitting idleing while unloading or loading something and hear the fan running, then a little while latter here is slow down, but defintely still running. I looked through the service manual and it does not say what the on/off temps for the fan are.

News to me guys, I don't have the service manual and haven't heard mine change speeds. Hope I didn't mislead any of you.

Yes we have a two speed fan. Mine kicks into second speed when I go up mountains. Sounds like a jet engine.

I'm going to have to pay more attention to this. Since I installed the Aeroforce Interceptor and can read engine and trans temps I've been more cognizant of what is going on. The two speed thing may explain why it seems to like to run at 195 and 205.

It's a two speed fan. You can't really hear it when it is at it's low speed but when the Jeep is idling and the AC is on or when it gets too hot it kicks into high gear and makes a bunch of noise.

Scared me the first time I heard it... I thought something was broken. Still makes me nervous every now and then.
